And so it seems the time has come for one final post. Summer is quickly drawing to a close; I finished my work with Energy Express a week ago Friday. It was bittersweet... I'm glad to have that behind me, but I really did love the kids. I'm very grateful for the experience.
As I prepare for totally new experiences, I want to thank you for your support. So many have shown a genuine interest in my future, and I'm very grateful for that. When a person loves something, it truly does mean a great deal when others take time to ask about it. Even though it might not seem to be the "logical" thing to do, I know it's right for me, and I appreciate that so many accept that.
I have realized something about people in general, including myself... something that I really need to focus on. Humans are selfish by default, and I don't mean that to be as negative as it sounds. Simply, the only experiences we ever live are through the body we're born into, not through anyone else. Therefore we realize things happen to others, but our main interest is in what we are going through. I think it's safe to say that true empathy is extremely scarce, if not impossible to find. I want to be less interested in myself, more interested in others. Perhaps that's what compassion really is? Showing a loving interest and concern for others that's rooted in genuine humility? All traits I need more of.
I do not yet know where I'll be or with whom I'll be (or when I'll be leaving, really), so I don't know my address at this time. I'll find out within the next few weeks, I expect. My school address will no longer be in service, obviously. I also will not be keeping this site.
I'm going to miss my family and friends a so very much, but I'm thankful that I've found peace. I certailny hope every one of you keeps in touch! I'll be using my old Palm IIIc for email. Yell at me if you want the address!
Life is good... there's water in the well.
